InnovationProject
Develop an idea with our support!
With the InnovationProject you can apply for a financial contribution to support the development of a prototype of an innovation. The Innovation Project is a financial instrument of LIOF. A great stimulus for the development of your idea!
We have good news because the implementation period of the Innovation Project has recently been extended to 24 months. This means that you have 12 months more time to implement your project.

The scheme covers 35% of the costs with a maximum amount of €50,000 for the development of a prototype of a product, service or process.
For whom?
Start-ups, scale-ups and SME companies (sector-wide) established in Limburg with an innovative idea that contributes to the social challenges (transitions) of energy, circularity, health and digitalisation.
The InnovationProject is a sector-wide programme specifically for companies based in the province of Limburg and is aimed at start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs from various sectors.
We are looking for driven and innovative entrepreneurs who can make a positive contribution in the field of one or more of the following transitions: energy, circularity, health and digitalisation.

A business developer will be assigned to you to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have. He/she will read and think along with you and provide you with feedback in order to get your story as sharp as possible on paper;
Complete and submit the application form. The instructions are in the form.
Step 2: Assessment process
After submission, you will receive a message from us whether your application is complete and correct (admissibility);
The assessment will normally take place two weeks after the submission date. After the assessment, we will inform you as soon as possible of the outcome (decision).
Step 3: Implementation and declaration
In case of a positive decision, you will receive an advance of 50% of the project costs financed by us and you can start developing the prototype. At the end of the project, you can claim the other half of the covered costs;
If the decision is negative, in some cases it is possible to re-submit the application and convince the Advisory Committee of your idea with new insights and arguments.
Please note: the implementation period for the Innovation Project has been extended. This means that every project that receives a positive decision after 1 June 2022 will run for a maximum of 24 months (this was 12 months). If the project continues after 30 June 2023, you must submit an interim report by this date. At the end of the project, you must submit a second report covering the period after 30 June 2023.
