SME Transition Loan
The SME Transition Loan is for established SMEs that want to take steps towards a smart, sustainable and healthy society. In other words: want to invest in the transitions energy, circularity, health or digitalization.
A push to accelerate
The SME Transition Loan is a (subordinated) loan for SMEs where the co-financing is at least 50% of the loan amount and where a demonstrable impact is made on one of the transitions. You can think of making the production or work process more sustainable and/or digital or investing in a smart innovation.
We hope that through this loan we can give SME entrepreneurs a boost to realize a positive impact on the future of Limburg together with a co-financier.
Is actually located in Limburg (physically and actively present);
Is fundamentally healthy;
Creates social returns;
Can't get enough money from the market to take a step around one or more transitions. Maximum size of the financing is 50% of the total investment need;
Has a clearly demonstrable business plan related to one of the four transitions: energy, circularity, health or digitalization.

Financial support: maximum of euro 250,000;
Duration: repaid in 7 years at the latest;
Type of investment: (subordinated) loan;
Collateral to be provided: as much as possible;
Interest: market-based (global indication mark-up between 500-800 basis points).

LIOF has three financial teams, organized around the life phase of a company: there is a team startups, scale-ups and SMEs. The SME Transition Loan falls under team SME. An entrepreneur/business has similar but also different challenges in each phase. This division enables us to provide more value to companies depending on the stage they are in.
These three financial teams also work closely with the Business Development department to support companies as broadly and optimally as possible, identify opportunities and realize impact.
