SecFund supports start-ups, scale-ups and innovative SMEs that contribute to the innovation needs of the Ministry of Defence and strengthen the Dutch economy.
SecFund focuses on companies with dual-use technologies. Examples include advanced data transmission (such as LiFi), low-noise technologies and innovative drones. The Ministry of Defence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Regional Development Agencies, established SecFund to strengthen the Netherlands' innovative capacity and enhance national security.

Dual-use solutions are technologies or products that can be used for both civil and military applications. With dual-use products, we invest in a secure Europe with a focus on innovation and clear market opportunities.
The fund is a collaboration between the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and ROM-Nederland.
The fund is managed by the nine regional development agencies that are members of ROM Nederland. These organisations provide appropriate guidance and support to the companies that receive funding. The fund therefore has national coverage. The Brabant Development Agency (BOM) manages the fund on behalf of the regional development agencies.
