With appointment of new directors, LIOF commits fully to an innovative and sustainable entrepreneurial Limburg

The shareholders of LIOF, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Province of Limburg, have appointed Robbert Koldenhof as Managing Director of LIOF (the Limburg Development Company). Effective January 1, 2025, Robbert Koldenhof will succeed Jeroen Walraven, who has held this position on an interim basis since September 2023.
The shareholders also appointed two new supervisory directors: John Jorritsma (chairman) and Miriam Dragstra (member). The appointment of Miriam Dragstra is on the recommendation of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. These appointments are effective October 1, 2024. Earlier this year, Daan Kersten was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board (SB) on the nomination of the Province of Limburg.

Robbert Koldenhof: new general director

Robbert Koldenhof (1985) has more than ten years of managerial experience in both the public and private sectors. He is currently director/manager at CINOP (educational consultancy and research agency). Here he works on embedding educational services and innovations in vocational education. Previously, Robbert worked at Element Materials Technology, where he focused on scaling up and integrating R&D laboratories for high performance materials. Early in his career he worked for BMC (public sector consulting firm) and UNL (industry association of Universities), among others.
Robbert Koldenhof holds a Master's degree in Tax Law from Leiden University. He lives in Maastricht, is married and has three children.

Robbert Koldenhof: “Limburg has everything it needs to remain at the forefront of a sustainable and innovative economy. I see in LIOF a catalyst to support Limburg entrepreneurs in innovation and growth. So that, together with its partners and shareholders, we can further strengthen Limburg's earning capacity and build a vital living environment. I am happy to use my previous experience in international business and the public sector for LIOF. I also look forward to working with colleagues, stakeholders and companies.”

John Jorritsma: chairman of the Supervisory Board

John Jorritsma has been nominated as chairman from the Supervisory Board. He was mayor of Eindhoven until 2022. Prior to that he served, among other things, as Queen's and King's Commissioner in Friesland, director of BOM (the Brabant Development Company) and mayor of Cranendonck and Budel. John was also chairman of the success formula Brainport and of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Region.

John Jorritsma: “My heart lies in administrative and economic affairs and I get enormous satisfaction from making connections between the Triple Helix: business, knowledge partners and public parties. Supporting vital SMEs, startups and pioneers is essential, also for the province of Limburg. But connecting with other regions at home and abroad is also very important. After all, we as the Netherlands are just a tiny dot on the world map! I look forward to making great strides towards a vibrant future together with the shareholders, my fellow supervisory directors, Robbert Koldenhof as the new director and of course the entire LIOF organization!”

Miriam Dragstra: member of the Supervisory Board

Miriam Dragstra was nominated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. She was responsible for the investment branch of the BOM (the Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij) as director for over ten years and is still working there as Special Advisor. Previously she worked at ABN AMRO for over 25 years, most recently as Director of Public Banking Netherlands.

Miriam Dragstra: “In these times of major transitions, the importance of a strong regional economy is increasing. Limburg has a lot to offer, with strong SMEs, a high-quality manufacturing industry, a leading chemical cluster at Chemelot and four Brightlands campuses full of innovative developments. LIOF can make a difference for Limburg. Together with knowledge institutions, partners in the Euregion, investors at home and abroad and other regional development companies.”

Daan Kersten, LIOF Supervisory Board

Daan Kersten: “With Robbert Koldenhof we are bringing in an experienced director who can combine his experience in building organizations with strong operational competencies in both a private and public context. As interim director, Jeroen Walraven set up the 'Fit for the Future' project together with the teams, with a strong focus on the further optimization of the internal processes. This was necessary due to the strong growth LIOF has experienced over the past few years, increased reporting requirements and in preparation for LIOF's new long-term strategy.

We are convinced that the new director can now take an important next step in anchoring the transitions in order to continue to head towards a smarter, more sustainable and healthier Limburg together with innovative entrepreneurs. With the goal of a careful balance between economic and social returns. We wish Robbert much success and enjoyment at LIOF.

We also welcome John Jorritsma as chairman and Miriam Dragstra as a member of the Supervisory Board. Both with great expertise in the financial-economic field and an extensive track-record in regional and national innovative public-private partnerships. To which Miriam Dragstra brings a vast knowledge of corporate finance and the private capital market.
A special word of thanks goes out to former Supervisory Board members Hans Jennissen and San Croonenberg, who in recent years have contributed to the growth of LIOF into a mission-driven organization in which core tasks such as financing and business development are deployed for promising and future-proof companies. With the now full Board of Commissioners and the new Managing Director, we are going to work full of energy and enthusiasm within our progressive province.”
