First investment from Early-Stage Fund: LIOF invests in Adhezy Technologies

LIOF has made the first investment from the reopened Limburg Early-Stage Fund (Limburg Vroegefasefonds/ LVFF), awarding funding to Adhezy Technologies from Venray. The startup is developing an innovative production technology that enables double-sided tape to be manufactured directly to size. This offers significant advantages in terms of cost, efficiency and sustainability, and opens up opportunities in large international markets such as automotive, electronics, medtech, and defense.

With this investment, Adhezy Technologies takes an important step in transitioning from technological development to commercial application. At the same time, this allocation marks the start of a new investment round of the LVFF, which was reopened by LIOF on March 1.

Breakthrough in custom tape production

Adhezy Technologies is developing a machine that produces double-sided tape directly in the desired shape using a hybrid printing technology. This eliminates the traditional process of producing standard rolls followed by post-processing. According to founders Bart Kusters and Tom van Loon, this brings major advantages: reduced material use, lower energy consumption, and less transport and storage. At the same time, customization becomes faster and more cost-efficient.

“What currently takes multiple steps, we will soon be able to produce in one go, tailor-made. This makes the process not only more efficient and cost-effective, but also much more sustainable,” say Adhezy founders Bart Kusters and Tom van Loon. “We see strong global interest from industries where customization and flexibility are becoming increasingly important.”

The technology responds to the growing demand for flexible and sustainable production solutions within industrial value chains. Potential applications are broad and target sectors with large volumes and high requirements, significantly increasing international market potential.

From technology to market application

The investment from the LVFF enables Adhezy to further optimize the technology and prepare it for the market. The focus is on carrying out pilot projects with launching customers and scaling up towards commercial applications. In addition, LIOF supports strategic issues such as intellectual property and follow-on investments.

Investing in entrepreneurs and the region

The investment in Adhezy Technologies aligns with LIOF’s role in supporting ambitious companies in Limburg to achieve growth and impact. In addition to financing, LIOF provides active guidance in sharpening business plans, conducting market research, and gaining access to a relevant network of partners and investors.

LVFF was introduced in 2022, and since then LIOF has invested ten million euros in 26 entrepreneurs. These innovations particularly help startups build their businesses and accelerate growth. Demand for this type of financing remains high: many entrepreneurs in Limburg have strong ideas and can take faster steps with the right support. This not only helps individual companies grow, but also strengthens the regional economy.

Reopening of the Limburg Early-Stage Fund

LVFF reopened on March 1. In this second round, € 10 million is available for innovative entrepreneurs in Limburg. The maximum financing per project has been increased to € 450,000.

The fund is intended for the development of new products, processes, or services towards an initial market introduction. Financing is provided in the form of a loan under favorable conditions and often serves as a stepping stone to follow-on investments for scaling.

The LVFF is financed by the Province of Limburg and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and executed by LIOF.
