From pitching to a jury to testing at the Summer Park Festival
Zomerparkfeest TestLab introduces top 3 Innovators This year, Zomerparkfeest and its partners are offering three entrepreneurs the opportunity to test their sustainable or social innovations during Zomerparkfeest. After an exciting pitch round, ioThings, SAM Panels and Cyclups secured a place at Summer Park Festival TestLab. They will be able to throw themselves into the fray and gather feedback from real users. The goal: to further improve their innovation. These innovative entrepreneurs will be at the festival grounds from 9 to 11 August.

Looking back on the pitch event
On Wednesday 29 May, eight innovative entrepreneurs from Limburg took to the stage. All with the aim of securing one of the three places at Zomerparkfeest TestLab. After inspiring pitches, it was up to an expert jury, consisting of representatives from Zomerparkfeest, LIOF and Ondernemend Venlo, to make the final decision and select the top three. All participants were assessed on various criteria, such as suitability, innovative character and business model.
ioThings, SAM Panels and Cyclups emerged as the winners and secured a place at the Zomerparkfeest TestLab.
ioThings
ioThings adopts the latest and best techniques to develop user-friendly, innovative and high-quality Internet of Things products that can solve real problems. One such product is the ioButton, an innovative, zero-maintenance, wireless emergency call system. Press the button and help is on its way! ioThings wants to test the suitability of the ioButton for use at a festival. What are the possible use cases and does the technology work in the context of a festival with large numbers of visitors?
SAM Panels
SAM Panels is a Dutch pioneer in the sustainable manufacturing industry and develops sheet material based on recycled organic waste, such as grass, hemp fibre, and cow manure (Sustainable Advanced Materials). This material is stronger and offers more design freedom than traditional sheet materials, making it suitable for a wide range of products. SAM Panels wants to test whether their biobased sheet material is also suitable for outdoor applications such as signage at a festival.
Cyclups
Cyclups develops straws and cutlery made from PLQ (Plantastiq), a bio-based alternative made from residual waste from grain (stems). This is completely biodegradable and 100% compostable. The result: no more waste and no more microplastic pollution. Towards a plastic-free future. Cyclups wants to test how they can collect used straws and cutlery to recycle them into new products.
Festival as a test lab
Zomerparkfeest TestLab is an opportunity to test an innovation over three days with a potential audience of no fewer than 100,000 visitors. This initiative is made possible by Rabobank, Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, LIOF, Ondernemend Venlo, Fontys, Bluehub, Circular Design Group and, of course, Zomerparkfeest.
In the coming weeks, all three entrepreneurs will be prepared and guided in the development of the test case. Zomerparkfeest starts on Thursday 8 August, with Zomerparkfeest TestLab opening a day later on Friday 9 August 2024.
