Through the following funds and programs, we help entrepreneurs with advice and financing. But with this we can also strengthen the sectors in Limburg. Would you like to know more? Give us a call. We will gladly help you.
LIOF is the regional development company of the Province of Limburg. We ensure the strengthening of the economic structure and thus the growth of Limburg.
70 committed LIOF colleagues help your company grow with advice, a solid network and financing, to strive for a smarter, more durable and healthy Limburg.
Cross-border grants
LIOF has an extensive and strong network. Not only in Limburg, but also across the border. For example, with Interreg subsidy programmes. This gives us access to a wide range of financing opportunities.
Financing outside of Limburg
Do you champion cross-border energy and climate solutions? Or are you working on the sustainable use of raw materials? For these and other challenges you can strengthen your innovative strength with help from companies or knowledge institutions from across the Limburg border.
LIOF support Interreg Europe, a European program aimed at strengthening the economy and cohesion in the European Union by promoting cooperation between regional areas in different countries.

Supporting promising innovations across borders
The Southern Netherlands and Flanders are in themselves particularly innovative regions, but can achieve even more with collaborations across national borders.
CrossRoads Flanders-Netherlands is a project within the European program Interreg Flanders and stimulates cross-border cooperation between SMEs in Flanders and the southern Netherlands (Zeeland, North Brabant, Limburg and South Holland). The project supports companies in their search for a partner across the border and subsidizes product or process innovations that contribute to societal transition priorities:
Sustainable use of energy
Sustainable use of raw materials
Industry 4.0 / Digitalization
Healthcare.
For more information or in case of questions, please contact Lisette Tilmans.
With the Interreg project From Waste 2 Profit, we want to encourage waste management among SMEs as the first step towards becoming more sustainable and circular. The project provides various means - so-called work packages - to realise this objective.
Audit of waste streams
Grants for investments in optimisation of waste management
Cross-border matchmaking between different stakeholders.

Stimulating the development of sustainable hydrogen in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion
A consortium of nine partners is joining forces to stimulate the development of sustainable hydrogen innovation, demonstration and knowledge sharing in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion, as a first step toward the large-scale rollout of a sustainable hydrogen economy.
The working area of the EMR H2 Booster consortium consists of Dutch and Flemish Limburg, the Aachen region and Liège. The project lasts 18 months and runs until June 2023.
The project partners are Stadt Aachen, LIOF, POM Limburg, Cluster TWEED, SPI, IHK Aachen, Hasselt University, Waterstof Coalitie Limburg and WaterstofNet, which is coordinating the project. Region Parkstad is an associate partner.
The ET2SMEs project focuses on interregional cooperation between SMEs in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. The aim is to stimulate technological and economic developments around the Einstein Telescope project. The technological partnerships will play an important role in the development of the Einstein Telescope and demonstrate the high-tech character of the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion.
Within the project, support and funding is available for innovations based on the various technologies within the Einstein Telescope project. Think of control, mechatronics, lasers, sensors, 3D modelling/simulation but also civil and environmental engineering. Do you want to know where the opportunities lie for your company? The INTERREG project 'electric Green Last Mile' (eGLM) wants to take an important step in making the transport sector more sustainable. For short trips (max. 150 km) in the Venlo and Duisburg region 100% electric trucks with corresponding fast chargers are used. This is to minimise CO₂ production, air pollution and noise. If you take part in this project, you will therefore gain in competitiveness.
In addition, optimal use and therefore a higher degree of utilisation of trucks through truck sharing is central. The investments in electric trucks are relatively high, and truck sharing could remove this barrier.
Watch the video '5 YEARS eGLM IN BEIJING | electric Green Last Mile (eGLM)' Electric truck was not yet in the vocabulary of the logistics world in 2017. The road travelled until now, 2022, is explained in this animation. The aim: to stimulate innovation. Learning by doing, in a sector where sustainability can have a major impact on our immediate environment.
On November 23, the closing event took place. Watch the aftermovie here. During this event at the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, various guest speakers gave an insight into the latest developments surrounding electric trucking and the lessons learned from this project were discussed in a panel discussion.
