Sustan reinforces green ambitions with investment via LIOF

Sustan, the innovative Maastricht-based manufacturer known for its CO-saving raw materials, has received a strategic investment from the Limburg Startup Capital Fund (LSCF) of development company LIOF. This investment will enable Sustan to accelerate its R&D activities and develop innovative sustainable raw materials. These raw materials, made from natural fibres and recycled materials, are a sustainable replacement for traditional plastics.

Sustainable innovation for a circular economy

Sustan specialises in developing biopolymers that not only store CO but also fit seamlessly into injection moulding and extrusion processes within manufacturers' existing infrastructure. These innovative raw materials contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions and offer manufacturers an advanced product passport. This enables them to measure their CO₂ savings and communicate them transparently – a crucial advantage within the new ESG and CSRD legislation.

Accelerating innovation through strategic investment

Thanks to the support of the LSCF, Sustan can:

* Expand R&D and production capacity by utilising the TNO/BMC laboratory at Chemelot, where even more customised materials can be developed and tested.

* Apply for new patents to maintain technological leadership in specific compounds, such as masterbatches and sustainable materials.

* Contributing to the sustainability goals of manufacturers worldwide by replacing traditional plastics with sustainable circular alternatives and supporting ESG and CSRD reporting.
