AgroExact raises €2 million for European expansion and growth toward becoming a leading provider of weather data

AgroExact, which has built the most extensive network of weather stations in the Netherlands since 2020, has successfully completed a €2 million funding round. By translating insights from local weather and soil data into concrete actions, farmers can work more efficiently, conserve water, and improve crop quality. With the addition of the Limburg development agency LIOF and renewed support from the Bossche Investerings Fonds (BIF), the company is focusing on international expansion and the further development of weather data solutions for farmers and sectors outside of agriculture.

From National Coverage to the European Market

AgroExact has established itself as the market leader in providing local weather information for Dutch crop farming. With a nationwide network of weather stations, thousands of crop farmers rely on this ultra-local data every day to make informed decisions. The company is now set to roll out this model to more countries across Europe. “In the Netherlands, we see that our data is indispensable for daily decision-making in the field; the app statistics alone prove that,” says Sven Boogaard, co-founder of AgroExact. “We take the burden off users by mapping the weather, so they can make important decisions. That’s why expanding to the rest of Europe is a logical next step. After all, the weather doesn’t stop at the border.”

Data hub in Limburg: New sectors, new solutions

A crucial part of the investment is the establishment of a new data development team at the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo in Limburg. While the headquarters will remain in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Limburg will become the hub for the next generation of weather solutions. The focus is shifting from exclusively arable farming to all sectors where weather conditions are a critical factor.

LIOF welcomes this step with enthusiasm. Willem van Esch, investment manager at LIOF: “AgroExact’s expansion to Limburg clearly demonstrates how innovation in agritech and the unique ecosystem of the Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo come together beautifully. For LIOF, this investment contributes to a future-oriented and resilient Limburg.”

For BIF, the role remains unchanged: “As an investor, we remain closely involved and actively support AgroExact, including through coaching. We look forward to working with LIOF and AgroExact to further realize this development and jointly continue building sustainable growth and impact within the agri-sector.” So says Teun Onstenk, Investment Manager at BIF.
