In general, OPZuid offers grant opportunities for:
Strengthening and broadening the South Netherlands innovation system by stimulating crossovers between the international top clusters and between the international and national top clusters. This certainly also applies to SMEs, which can thus better connect to the knowledge that is developed in research programs and to research capacity with third parties.
Stimulating open innovation and methods and processes that fit in with it, such as living labs, living labs, co-creation, social innovation and the use of design.
Promoting collaboration among (SME) companies and between (SME) companies, knowledge and research institutions and governments.
Improving the match between education and the demand for technically trained people, by stimulating educational programmes and facilities that involve both the business community and knowledge institutions and that respond to the qualitative demands that the business community in the top clusters places on technical talent.
Innovation in techniques, products, processes and services in the field of sustainable energy production, efficiency and conservation.
Smart rollout of innovation in all facets of the energy system that contributes directly to energy conservation or production of renewable energy.
REACT-EU
New subsidy opportunity within OPZuid
The budget for the 2014-2020 program period was approximately €113 million. The four regular subsidy schemes within this OPZuid program have now been exhausted. However, within the OPZuid 2014-2020 program, the REACT-EU subsidy opportunity has been added. These are funds as part of the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Within this, the provinces of Limburg, North Brabant and Zeeland have each identified specific eligible activities that are important for a green, digital and resilient recovery of the economy. The new OPZuid 2021-2027 program period is expected to start in the fall of 2021 with a total budget of € 109 million. As with the previous program period, OPZuid 2021-2027 also defines the framework of the subsidy options in the "Regional Innovation Strategy Smart Specialization for European Funds Programs"(RIS3). The emphasis is on stimulating innovation with economic impact with a central place for the five transitions: energy, raw materials, climate, agriculture and food and health transition.
