Andiamo!
Rik Hendriks, advisor management LIOF
'My heart rate is slowly creeping toward 150 beats per minute. Around me the walls of snow loom. The air becomes thinner, my breath faster. Between me and the summit of the Passo di Gavia is still about 6 kilometers. Thanks to modern technology, I know exactly what to expect and can dose the climb well. Just under half an hour later, I am at the top and enjoying the winter views of the Italian Alps. I breathe in a big gulp of satisfaction. I have reached this dot on the horizon! Fortunately, there are still plenty of mountain peaks around me to conquer. Still small dots for now.'
That dot on the horizon is also reflected daily in my work as a management consultant at LIOF. Together with the Management Team and my colleagues, I look at possible developments, trends and points for improvement within the various domains of LIOF. To help both the organization and the employees to achieve our objectives.
We like to help people at LIOF
An important common denominator in our work! But where my colleagues often help entrepreneurs move forward, I contribute in the background. I support colleagues so that they in turn can better serve entrepreneurs. So together we help entrepreneurs who are working on important innovations of the future. This gives me enormous satisfaction.
Every ridge brings its own challenges
Besides interacting with entrepreneurs and colleagues, I look at the political-administrative side. Like the interaction with our shareholders, Province of Limburg and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. Because that too is important for what we do at LIOF. All this together makes my work at LIOF challenging and ensures that no two days are the same.
"LIOF is at the interface between business and government
for the economic structure of the province of Limburg!"

Meaningfulness is hugely important to me
At LIOF, we try to strengthen Limburg's economic structure in a sustainable way. We do this by focusing on social challenges. Something that is simply very much needed, we cannot ignore. As LIOF, we like to play a pioneering role in this. I therefore consider it very important that in my work at LIOF I focus on clear added value for society. Meaning. Surely that is very important for someone like me from Generation Z.
Cue to our multi-year plan!
I see the Italian Alpine peaks as a nice metaphor for these societal challenges we want to tackle as LIOF. To cycle up the mountains, you need good preparation and a clear plan. Cue to our multi-year plan! What is our strategy for the next 5 years? At LIOF, we are currently on the eve of rigging a new multi-year plan. Something to which my position allows me to contribute, great fun!
We decide together which summits to conquer
Drawing up a new multi-year plan is something you do together. Together with colleagues, entrepreneurs and shareholders, we determine which summits we focus on. Where does Limburg benefit most right now? What is the best route? How do we divide our forces as well as possible? After all, in the end we have to cycle up together. Then you'd better make sure you have properly agreed at the bottom of the mountain how to go about it. That's how you'll get the furthest. Andiamo!
